The premise of the book is to teach young people not to take something that is not theirs to take. Even though Raspy Raccoon loves honey and did not have any, he should not steal the honey. All, he had to do was ask Chef Buzz for the honey.
Miss Snickers is a dog with many different kinds of creatures in her family. First there’s Max, who is another dog. Then there’s a goose named Gus, who honks to say hello. Gabbie is another goose who likes to honk too. And then there’s Hattie, who is a scarecrow; she greets others by saying, “Caw, caw!” Miss Snickers is so happy to have so many wonderful family members. Gus and Gabbie wonder whether it’s OK to have so many different kinds of creatures in the same family, when not everyone looks alike. And Snickers explains that there are many different kinds of families. After all, all a family needs is for everyone to love and take care of one another. This children’s story shows young readers that there are all kinds of families and that any group with love can be a family together.
Through colorful illustrations, this book shares the story of grandma and her furry, four-legged friend, Miss Snickers, as they embark on a scavenger hunt, finding treasures in the harbor water.
What are the secrets in the treasures found? Did a pirate leave a note in the bottle scooped up by grandma? Did the Queen of England lose her tennis ball in the water? What does Mr. Dolphin have to say?
Miss Snickers’ Scavenger Hunt takes children on a fun adventure while teaching about the importance of helping care of the world around them.
